About ATEP

ATEP is an off-campus elementary teacher education program designed to improve the educational success of Aboriginal children by increasing the number of Aboriginal teachers in communities in northern Alberta.

Plans are currently under way for the following:

  • 2009-2011 An urban cohort on the main campus at the U of A.
  • 2010-2012 A collaborative program with Portage College in Lac La Biche and Cold Lake.
  • 2011-2013 A collaborative program with Northern Lakes College in Grouard and Wabasca.
  • 2012-2014 A collaborative program with Blue Quills First Nations College in St. Paul.
